Spanish is one of the world's major languages, with a reach extending far beyond that of Spain to most of South and Central America. The ability to speak Spanish can therefore serve as an important stepping stone into the world of work, creating opportunities to access markets and provide products or services to 450 million people. Studying a Modern Foreign Language promotes the broadening of cultural knowledge and understanding and the development of transferable skills such as confidence, communication and creativity that make for excellent learners and valuable employees. Studies have also shown that learning another language provides you with a better understanding of your own native language and culture. You will become much more conscious not only of cultural customs, but of the grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation of your first language. This likely explains the improvements in listening, reading and writing skills that foreign language learning imparts to learners.
