The Science Department is committed to providing students with the opportunity to study a broad and challenging curriculum, encompassing the three scientific disciplines; Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Our understanding of science is continuously changing, shaping the future and prosperity of the world around us. This is reflected in the curriculum we offer our students, which allows them to develop their skills using a contextualised approach, ensuring they are taught knowledge, methods, processes and applications which are key in our understanding of science in the wider world. Practical work is a core feature of science lessons at St Richard Gwyn. Subsequently, developing students’ practical skills through an investigatory approach is central to our delivery of the curriculum, encouraging students to appreciate how the complex and diverse phenomena of the natural world can be described.
