Drama at St. Richard Gwyn is an opportunity for all students to grow in confidence and develop new skills. Drama has become a qualification employers are finding more attractive when recruiting new employees, as the knowledge, understanding and skills learners develop are directly transferable to world of work. In particular, confidence, strong communication skills, the ability to cooperate and to empathise with others, analysing, evaluating and to show initiative are seen as major strengths in today’s society. During Drama lessons we look at many performance techniques and key skills; such as knowledge and understanding of Drama, Interpersonal and group working skills, Creativity, Improvisation, Communication and Evaluation skills. All this is done through engaging and interactive cross curricular topics that allow exploration of personal thoughts and opinions as well as looking at the wider world. Extra curricular activities are readily available within the Creative Arts department and there are plenty of opportunities to develop confidence and performance skills outside of the classroom.
