Post 16 Transport

Good news - Democracy is still alve in the Vale

The Vale of Glamorgan Council has withdrawn the proposal to withdraw funding for Post 16 transport. It means that the free transport to St. David's College that all our families currently enjoy will be maintained for the coming year. Common sense has prevailed.

Their decision was no doubt influenced by the huge response from the Catholic sector to the consultation process. There were over 1100 objections to the proposal, over 900 coming from the Catholic sector. I would like to thank everyone who responded, students, parents, staff, governors and parishioners. It demonstares the strength of our community.

However, there is one large caveat. The Vale will closely monitor the usage of the service over the coming year. This suggests that they intend revisiting this sometime in the future. We may have won this battle but it seems the war goes on.

I urge all families who currently send their children to St. David's and all those who intend to go to St. David's in September to use the free bus service to its fullest. Do not be tempted to use other modes of transport. The future of the service depends on it.
