Panto Time at St Richard Gwyn!

For three nights (28-30 Jan) pupils and staff entertained sell-out crowds with their own version of 'Little Red Riding Hood', inspired by Head of Drama, Mrs Audrey Sparks, and featuring a cast of some 60 pupils - with a few staff also treading the boards! With characters reminiscent of 'Gavin and Stacey', hectic slapstick and special effects, there was fun and entertainment for all the family.

'The event brought pupils from all age groups together as they rehearsed after school and at weekends. Their talent and commitment resulted in a fabulous show full of music, dance and wit.

The second half took the form of a 'Barry's Got Talent' contest with its own comperes and judges and featured glamorous belly dancers, a singing wolf and even a juggling Cinders! However the star of the show, 'Little Red', was deemed the overall winner as she was the only contestant who didn't cheat!

Head of Music, Miss Ria Venn, who directed the music, remarked: 'This is my first major production at St Richard Gwyn. It's been hard work for all involved but great fun! I am now planning the next event…watch this space!'
