St Helen's Catholic Junior School has at its heart the words of Our Lord: 'Love one another as I have loved you' - together with St Helen's Catholic Infant and Nursery School, the school works to help the children grown in the love of God and become active and reflective members of the Christian and wider community.

St Helen's is a Voluntary Aided Catholic Junior School, situated in the centre of Barry.  It maintains close links with its partner Infant School and with St Richard Gwyn Catholic High School.  It is a semi 'open plan' and although the school is in a residential area, has a small field.  The original school was located where
St Helen's Catholic Infants and Nursery is now situated - the Junior school moved to its present site in 1974.

In the most recent school inspection by ESTYN, the inspection authority, the school was described as being a 'good school with outstanding features' and as 'a very happy school'.  St Helen's works as a community to provide secure academic standards; children have a developing sense of their spirituality, and lively, stimulating educational experiences.

St Joseph's Primary School, Sully Road, Penarth CF64 2TX
Headteacher: Mr M Flynn
Telephone: 029 20702864

St Joseph's Catholic Primary School bases its values on the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which encourages all individuals to grow in the love of God, and realise their potential as members of the Christian community.

St Joseph's is a Voluntary Aided Catholic Primary School, situated at Penarth, within the Archdioces of Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan Local Education Authority. The school's way of life and religious teaching is rooted in the Catholic faith. The school is held upon a trust which has the education of Catholic children as its objective in addition to "establishing, maintaining or advancing the Catholic religion in the Archdiocese, and in one or more the charitable objects promoted or served by the Catholic Church within the Archdiocese". St Joseph's is a welcoming, supportive school where everyone is valued and encouraged to reach their full potential.

The school is situated in a pleasant rural setting on the outskirts of the seaside town of Penarth. It is a modern semi open-plan building set in its own grounds and was established on its present site in 1970. The original
St Joseph's school was founded in 1878 and as the Catholic population grew this eventually came to encompass the church and presbytery as well.
