All of the foundation governors are appointed by the Archdiocese of Cardiff with the support of their local parishes. The Headteacher has an option to be a Governor and Mr Clinch uses this option - which the governors welcome. The teacher and non-teacher governors are elected from within the school. The parent governors are elected by the parents of children currently attending the school. The LEA governor is elected by the Local Education Authority.

There is one main committee - Full Governors - and three sub-committees within the Governing Body. The sub-committees are Finance and Buildings, Curriculum and Standards and a Pupils and Staffing committee. Each of these sub-committees provide a report to the main committee. All of the committees meet at least once a term.

The role of the Governing Body is to provide strategic advice and guidance to the Headteacher and the school management team on the direction in which we want the school to go. The day to day operation of the school is the responsibility of the Headteacher, not the Governing Body.

The governors oversee the budget for school, over £2m per year, and make decisions on where the priorities lie. 85% of the costs of operating the school are met by the Local Education Authority. As a Voluntary Aided School the governors are required to provide the remaining 15% of the budget. A recent example of this is the new roof that we are having built over the entrance, chapel and older parts of the school. The governors are expecting to pay up to £25,000 for this work.

The governors also take a keen interest in the pastoral and curriculum aspects of the school. This is an important part of the governors' role as we are involved in deciding how the school timetable will operate as well as reviewing the school's academic results annually.

Parents can contact the governors, via the school office, at any time. The governors also hold an Annual General Meeting that is open to any parents to attend. This is their opportunity to question the governors on any aspect of the school's future plans.
